Help on using GESIS www pages

In the following several questions concerning the usage of the GESIS site will be answered. Feel free to contact us if you have further questions.

Questions:

How are the pages structured?

How does the navigation column work?

Which are the technical requirements my system has to meet?

I have further questions - who do I contact?

How are the pages structured?

Generally a page is structured into three parts: The head, the navigation column and the content. The head has three functions: First you can view the homepages of GESIS, its institutes and the Service Agency Berlin. At the same time the head reveals which institute a page belonges to. Finally there are global links to the search, the sitemap, the changing of language and the help you are reading at the moment.

By using the navigation column on the left you can browse around the entire GESIS site. Just click on an entry and the subordinate entries appear. Here you can select further entries until you get the desired information. Of course you can select all entries at any time, with exception of the current page which is marked by an orange entry.

Finally the page also includes the actual content. There the information offered by GESIS are presented.

How does the navigation column work?

The navigation column shows the GESIS site hierarchically structured. Just click on an entry to view the subordinate level, which offers additional entries. The current page is marked by an orange entry in the navigation column. The entries showing the path from the top level to the current page are marked by a darker shade in order to reveal the actual position within the hierarchy. The entries below the actual entry are marked likewise to emphasize possible choices.

Due to the limited size of the screen sometimes not all the entries can be shown at Data Service & Archiving and at Research 6 Development. An arrow indicates hidden entries. Just click on the arrow to gain access to the whole subordinate level.

Which are the technical requirements my system has to meet?
