Notes:

  • Since 1991 the ALLBUS surveys include citizens from the area of the new federal states. These respondents have been oversampled so that analysts can obtain a more detailed picture of this portion of the population. Without weighting, the total sample is therefore not immediately representative of the German population. While separate percentage counts for East and West can be interpreted immediately, overall percentage counts have to be weighted using the east-west weight provided in the data.
  • Note: Since 1991, ALLBUS also includes foreigners living in Germany.
  • The original collectors of the data and the codebook producers bear no responsibility for the interpretation of the data.
  • Publications based on the codebooks should acknowledge ALLBUS as source by means of bibliographic citations.
