Special Dataset Releases
Please notice the special release of codebook and data sets for the European
Election Study 1994 [ZA 2865]. This study
essentially consists of a survey conducted immediately after the European
Parliament election of June 1994 in the framework of Eurobarometer 41.1
and a
number of pertinent variables from the three related Eurobarometer surveys
conducted before and after the European elections between Autumn 1993 and Autumn 1994. Identical questions have been asked in all member states of
the European Community, some of them have been included in two, a few in
three or all four of the interviews. As a consequence the study offers
wide opportunities for comparative and longitudinal analyses of voter
behaviour and voter orientations.
Longitudinal analysis are particularly supported by the fact that 1994
study contents are partially overlapping with those of the European
Election Study 1989 [ZA
2320].
The
European Election Studies
1999 and
2004 continue the series, but not anymore in the framework of
the Eurobarometer series.
Nevertheless a large number of questions are identical to those used in
the 1989 and 1994 studies, thus permitting time-series comparisons.
Eurobarometer Elections surveys or modules in these years have been conducted independently (see
overview above). The EES 1994 data are archived at and distributed by the Zentralarchiv für
Empirische Sozialforschung in Cologne with the study numbers 2866 to 2869
(interconnected single data files for four waves and for each country) or
2865 (integrated data file). The EES 1989 and 1999 data are primarily archived at
DANS
(formerly NIWI/Steinmetz Archief). All data sets are also made available
via the national social
science data archives. The European Elections studies,
including the special data releases, are prepared respectively
conducted by the group of principal investigators in
the framework of the 'European Elections Study Research Group' :
