Data and documentation of studies from the GDR and the New Federal States

Since 1992 it has been possible to create a collection of about 460 empirical studies (1968 - 2000) which can be used for researches on social changes in Eastern Germany as well as for contemporary studies of the GDR. These studies have been prodessed and documented.

The study profiles

The list of all study profiles includs basic study information and links to related documents (questionnaires and codebooks - PDF format).

The codebooks and questionnaires can be browsed and printed online. They contain the study description with detailed information on the content of the study, dates of data collection, sample and method of data collection.

The data depositing institutes

The study holdings catalogue

The catalogue gives an overview of the social science studies from the GDR and the New Federal States.

The material can be ordered via WWW from the GESIS Central Archive in Cologne or the GESIS Service Agency Eastern Europe in Berlin.
