- Developmental factors and development forms of young people in the GDR 1968 -
1980
The first interval study of the Central Institute for Youth Research in Leipzig
(Zentralinstitut für Jugendforschung Leipzig) started in 1968 as "Pupil interval
study IS
1" and was carried on in 12 waves until 1980.
The aim of the study was the analysis of the development of personality of 12 year old children in the context of the changing social and
individual living conditions. The study stretches from the period in school of the young
11/12 year old pupils through professional training or study up until the entry into
professional life of the by-then 24-year-olds. For this purpose, 31 school classes from 11
Leipzig schools were chosen.
