Pupil interval study "Abilities" IS 3 (FJ) - Younger cohort 1986 to 1995

The "Pupil interval study "Abilities" IS 3" was started by the Central Institute for Youth Research in Leipzig in 1986 with a younger age cohort (9 year old pupils) and in 1985 with an older age cohort (12 year old pupils) to evaluate support strategies for highly gifted children.

These were made in order to determine the causes of development and influential factors, by the promotion of intellectual achievements in childhood and youth. The younger age cohort as well as the older were followed, after 1990 through the German Youth Institute in Munich/Leipzig (Deutsche Jugendinstitut München/Leipzig). The pupil interval study "Abilities - Younger cohort" has been carried on as a "risk study" since 1995. In the context of an analysis of risk and chances which arise out of the development of youth in Eastern Germany, a higher priority in later waves was placed on the conditions for the development of the intellectual ability in connection with leisure time and school interests.
