Foreigner survey 1997 on CD-ROM
|
Besides the youth survey and
the family survey, the
Deutsches Jugendinstitut München
(DJI) (German institute for youth research, Munich) together with the
Central Archive Cologne (ZA) publishes the
foreigner survey 1997 as another complex data pool for secondary
analytic research.
The foreigner survey was carried out by the DJI and the Technical
University Chemnitz in the context of the "Young people from migrant
families" study in 1997. On the CD-ROM data and research documents of the
study as well as context information on the comparableness with the 1992 and
1997 youth survey and the family survey are made available.
An overview of the data and information contained on the CD-ROM can be
found in the following article:

In the foreigner survey Italian,
Greek and Turkish youth/young adults between 18 and 25 were investigated
concerning their socio-cultural integration and political participation.
The main questions of the study are:
- What is the difference between foreign and German adolescents or young
adults in terms of political attitude, interest in political say and
participation as well as trust in social institutions in Germany?
- What is the influence of the migration-specific
field of activity, educational situation, language competence, the wish
for infrastructural institutions of the own ethnic group, the experiences
of disadvantages etc. on political attitudes and commitment?
The use of comparable characteristics in the foreigner
survey, the youth survey 1992 and
1997 as well as the family
survey makes it possible to uncover similarities and differences between
political attitudes and commitments of migrant youth and German adolescents
or young adults.
