Registration procedure

Although the registration deadline (May 31-st) has passed, you still can register for available places. If the course is full, you can place yourself on a waiting list. In order to register for the GESIS Summer School, please go to the Summer School registration system.

If you have used the ConfTool summer school registration system in 2013 or 2012, please use your existing login information. If you have forgotten your user name and/or password, please use the recovery links provided. The registration system does not allow new user accounts with email-addresses already existing in the system. If you participate in the Summer School for the first time, please follow the instructions in the registration system to register. Later on, you can log in again to edit your user information, payment details and print your invoice.

If a course you would like to register for is already fully booked, you can register for another course you are interested in and/or register for a place on the waiting list of the fully-booked course. We will contact you once a place becomes available.

Cancellations

If you realize after registration that you cannot make it, please email us as soon as possible so that we can reallocate your place to another applicant. Please see the terms and conditions for our cancellation and reimbursement policy.

Payment information

The following payment modes are available:

  • bank transfer: best option for payments from Euro countries; bank details are provided on the invoice after registration;
  • PayPal: for instantaneous payment, including by credit card or direct debit from your bank account (depending on your country). Please note that it is not required to have or set up an account with PayPal in order to use this service.

We do not accept payments via Western Union or similar services.

Registration does not yet guarantee your place in the Summer School. It only conditionally reserves a space for you while we wait for your payment. Your place is guaranteed and you are formally registered for the Summer School from the moment we have received your payment.

Applying for a visa to attend the Summer School

Depending on where you come from, you may have to provide a formal obligation when applying for a visa at the German embassy. Please inquire at your nearest German embassy which documents you need for your visa application and let us know as soon as possible whether a simple letter of invitation is sufficient, or if you will need a formal obligation.

Participants who need a formal obligation can indicate this during online registration. The fee of € 100 includes the costs for obtaining the formal obligation and secured postage. We will send you a form to provide the information required for the obligation. We will then have to obtain this formal obligation from the city of Cologne and send it to you by secured mail. For the whole process (starting with the application at the Aliens' Department and ending with the delivery at the address you have specified) you should calculate about two weeks. Please understand that we can only start working on the formal obligation after we have received full payment of your participation fee.
