"Developing a Measure of Socio-cultural Origins for the European Social Survey“
by Anthony Heath (Centre for Social Investigations, Nuffield College, Oxford), Silke Schneider (GESIS) und Sarah Butt (Centre for Comparative Social Surveys, City, University of London)
Today the European Social Survey has announced a new paper looking at measures of socio-cultural origins. The paper is written by Silke Schneider at GESIS, CSI’s Anthony Heath, and Sarah Butt at City, University of London. It is aimed primarily at researchers of ethnicity, who now have greater detail available for comparative studies than before.
The report concludes that the new measures have “equipped us with the tools necessary to improve understanding of the issues surrounding ancestry and socio-cultural origins in Europe. This will benefit substantive researchers with an interest in understanding the increasingly complex and diverse socio-cultural origins of people resident within Europe and the consequences of this complexity and diversity for attitudes and behaviour.”
