Journals – Periodicals for Historians and Social Scientists

GESIS publishes journals on methods and results from contemporary and historical social research. Our periodicals are available by subscription and are largely free of charge.

Historical Social Research (HSR) is an international, bilingual scientific journal for historical social research which disseminates new methods in the field of history. This journal is included in the Social Science Citation Index.

Methods, Data and Analyses is a journal that includes articles and contributions covering a whole range of methods in survey research. Special areas of emphasis are new methods and/or statistical insights and current applications of methods in research practice.

Social Indicators Information Service (ISI) is the GESIS journal for social reporting. The bi-annual publication provides information to an interested audience and community of scholars on selected trends of social change.

Our archive contains back issues of ZUMA-Nachrichten and ZA-Information, the methodological journals of our former institutes Central Archive for Empirical Social Research (ZA) and the Center for Survey Research and Methodology (ZUMA). To this day, they contain relevant contributions on methods in empirical social research.
