The volume contains selected contributions to two recent annual meetings of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Sozialwissenschaftlicher Institute. The papers focus on the methodological and structural analysis of education and social inequality. They deal with the proxy measurement of social origin in student assessment studies and the associated topic of measurement error, the cross-national comparison of socio-demographic variables, the estimation of status inconsistency and mobility effects, and a network analysis on the research field of education. Based on a comparison of OECD countries, an analysis of public and private educational expenditures is presented.
