Providing consultation on and access to information and services in
the social sciences
Eastern Europe Social Science
The databases produced by GESIS-IZ are the foundation upon which the
comprehensive services offered are made available to interested parties
from research, teaching and education, the private sector, administration,
politics and the media. This includes access to additional national and
international databases.
The information made available can be specifically culled from the
variety of services offered by GESIS-IZ and then tailored to the user’s
specific needs. Consultation ranges from general information found within
the GESIS-IZ databases, content and retrieval possibilities, assistance on
search strategies for user initiated retrieval, referring to extant
information compilations regarding specific topics, all the way through to
providing information from national and international social science
databases (search service) including tips and hints for locating
information sources on topics that are not available through database
searches. In addition, GESIS-IZ has a long and successful history of database
construction which enables their staff to offer valuable assistance for
conceiving information systems for specific sub-disciplines.
