Database Social Science Research PROjects in Eastern Europe - PROEastE

PROEastE is an English language database offering information on theoretical and empirical research from Eastern Central and Eastern Europe in 1992-2002. PROEastE is accessible as an archive database since 2003. A continuous internet survey was the main source of information gathering for PROEastE. Descriptions of research projects can be searched directly via a search mask. The categorization of disciplines is based on IZ's social science classification.

Contents

The database PROEastE contains descriptions (mainly in English) of on-going, completed and planned social science research projects from the countries of Eastern Central and Eastern Europe (about 2.950 documents) covering the period 1992-2002.

Updates till 2002

Around 250 records per year were added to the database. The archive database PROEastE is a medium-term instrument supporting access to information on resarch developments in Eastern Europe as well as on research activities of institutions and scientists.

Information Sources

Project information in PROEastE comes primarily from the higher education sector and Academies of Science in Eastern and Central East Europe. The observation of current social science research progress in Eastern Europe occured by surveys, utilisation of Internet information, evaluation of source material and network contacts.
