Social Science journals in Germany, Austria and Switzerland

Database search
The database contains information on approximately 370 social science periodicals. In cooperation with other specialized institutions, GESIS-IZ regularly screens and prepares this material for input into the literature database SOLIS. Standard information includes title, editor, publisher and ISSN. Addresses of editing teams and the URL referring to a journal's home page are continually being added. Each journal information includes also a link to SOLIS which automatically launches a search request at the GBI host and lists the article titles of the journal at no charge. Further information about the article, the author or abstract can be ordered directly for an additional fee.

In addition we continue to offer the alphabetical list (pdf-File, approx. 100 kByte) of journals for SOLIS which serves as an orientation.

Descriptions of Eastern European social science journals

Since 1992, Eastern European social science journals have been identified and described. To date, there are about 70 comprehensive journal profiles. This collection is continuously up-dated and expanded, and made available via the Newsletter Social Science in Eastern Europe as well as through enquiries. For each journal, the name (in original language and in English), place of publication, the publishers with addresses and the editors/editorial board as well as their publication dates are recorded in a standardized format. Tables of contents of individual journal copies are included by way of example. Those journals for which the Service Agency holds subscriptions can be consulted in the library (in German) of the Service Agency.
