As an establishment for scientific research GESIS is financed conformable to article 91 GG by the German federation and counties. Its institutional financing is provided by the German Federal Land Baden-Württemberg. Therefore all employees are paid under the terms of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service of the counties.

GESIS offers a company pension provision in form of a direct insurance at the “Versorgungsverbund bundes- und landesgeförderter Unternehmen (VBLU) e.V.“ to its employees covered by collective bargaining agreement in Mannheim and Cologne. Currently the contribution of the employer to this direct insurance averages out 5,81 % and the one of the employee 1,09 % of the relevant wage.

Travel expenses which may arise when invited to job interviews are incurred by GESIS according to the travel expense policy of Baden-Württemberg (LRKG). The following link contains further references for that purpose (link)
