Specialized Information for the Social Sciences
GESIS provides a widespread catalogue of information relevant for the social science community, stored in databases and information systems produced and maintained at the GESIS centers in Cologne and Berlin.
Based upon the information contained within these databases GESIS makes available numerous publications and other documentation as well as providing diverse portals with topics of social concern.
An additional key aspect of this area’s activity is the issue of equal opportunities in science and research, with which the Center of Excellence Women and Science (CEWS) at the GESIS center in Cologne is concerned.
Moreover, GESIS also provides services such as searches at users’ request and consultations.
The GESIS databases SOLIS and SOFIS as well as the GESIS SocioGuide can be accessed for literature search through the social science portal sowiport. Research projects can be registered and searched in our SOFISwiki.
SSOAR collects electronic full texts from the domain of the Social Sciences and makes these texts available according to the Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Scientific Knowledge.
Additionally, GESIS maintains the women scientists database FemConsult, a literature database of women in science and research, a CEWS law database, and the CEWS web resources.
