GML: German Microdata Lab

GESIS' Service Centre for Microdata

The German Microdata Lab (GML) collects microdata of official statistics. It offers comprehensive services concerning the data and develops instruments for the implementation of social scientific concepts (for details: Lüttinger/Schimpl-Neimanns/Wirth/Papastefanou: The German Microdata Lab at ZUMA. Schmollers Jahrbuch 3/2004).

Data & Metadata

The German Microdata Lab (GML) collects Microcensus data of official statistics and consumer panel data of market research. It offers comprehensive services  for utilizing the data. For the following data sets, substantial documentation is available (e.g. variables lists, questionnaires, setups).  Some data (e.g. workplace and occupation census) can be obtained directly from GML.

Services

As a special service, the GML regularly offers workshops and user conferences concerning the handling and analysis of data from official statistics. Furthermore, we generate and provide tools for implementing social scientific concepts and classifications for Microcensus data.
