Knowledge transfer
GESIS Knowledge transfer is responsible for disseminating scientific knowledge to the professional social science community both domestically and internationally.
In addition to publishing, GESIS scientists also make their expert knowledge available at events and conferences, offering systematic and concise know-how on empirical social research through in-house seminars, workshops or user conferences.
- The GESIS Methods Seminar (previously known as the ZHSF-Autumn Seminar) conveys praxis relevant fundamentals of historical social research, database management and data analysis.
- The GESIS Spring Seminar is comprised of three one-week courses which partially build upon one another, explaining theory and usage of complex data analysis procedures at the international research level.
- The GESIS Summer School in Survey Methodology, beginning in 2012, complements existing summer schools in Europe through its focus on data survey methods.
- The GESIS Workshops offer a broad palette of topics at various levels (from introductory level through advanced, on up through presenting new developments in science and research.
GESIS will also be offering two types of events promoting dialogue among those working in empirical science:
- User conferences, allowing users of particular national and international datasets the chance to exchange experiences with one another.
- Symposia enabling an expert level discussion on current – specifically methodological – topics.
GESIS‘ knowledge transfer program is primarily aimed at academic social researchers. This includes university non-professorial teaching staff as well as those working on research projects in universities and publicly financed research institutions as well as experienced researchers seeking to learn new procedures.
