GESIS wishes to appoint a President, University Chair (W3)

In collaboration with the University of Mannheim and the University of Cologne, GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences wishes to appoint a

President

to start as soon as possible. The successful candidate shall also be appointed to a

University Chair (W3)

at one of the above universities. The appointment to the chair and as President shall initially be for a period of five years. Reappointment is possible. The details of and duties attaching to the two posts shall be agreed upon between the parties. Two teaching hours per week at the university shall be required during the semester for the duration of the appointment as president.

Criteria governing the appointment to the chair at the University of Mannheim and the University of Cologne are based on the provisions of the Landeshochschulgesetz [Federal State Regulations for Higher Education Establishments] applicable to the university in question. GESIS (www.gesis.org) provides fundamental research services of national and international importance for the social sciences. It develops and improves analytical approaches and research tools in the social sciences on the basis of its fundamental research. GESIS is funded by the national and State governments and is a member of the Leibniz Association.

Candidates should be well-established in at least one of the GESIS specialist research fields. In their career to date, they should have demonstrated that they are able to develop and dynamically implement new research concepts in the social sciences and that they have experience in obtaining outside financing from national and international research funding programmes. Management experience and skills are also essential as the successful candidate will be responsible for the prudent and professional management of an institute with around 250 employees and branches in Mannheim, Cologne and Berlin.
