GESIS-ZUMA advises researchers in questions of empirical social research
methodology. For survey projects, we do not only offer consultations
on design, implementation and analysis, but also perform pretests of
survey questionnaires, construct samples, and encode responses. If
desired, we can also give application-oriented assistance during the
entire project.

| Who can approach us for help? |
|
Our services are generally available to all
researchers at schools of higher education and research
institutes, both nationally and internationally. Inquiries can
be made per telephone or post. We will either answer them as
soon as possible, or invite you for a consultation.
To decide on the priority of the inquiry, we consider the type
and the source of project funding. The highest priority goes to
research projects that have been approved through an assessment
procedure by an independent organization that issues research
grants, such as the German Research Community (Deutsche
Forschungsgemeinschaft) or the Volkswagenwerk Foundation, or are
financed by the budget of a university or other school of higher
education. The rest follow in descending order: Research
institutes maintained by the state, such as federal and
member-state institutions; miscellaneous public clients; private
non-profit organizations; and lastly, scientific projects from
commercial institutes that can present an inquiry of general
scientific interest and can guarantee that the results will be
made accessible to the research public.
Doctorates and students can only be counseled in rare cases due
to the heavy workload.

| Costs |
Consultations with members of GESIS-ZUMA are free. Costs
pertaining to the project, such as those incurred through pretests
or the encoding of variables will be billed to the client. The
conduction of entire studies will, of course, also be billed to the
client.
