GESIS departments
In the last two years GESIS has been reorganised and has basically
changed its structure. From an umbrella organisation composed of the
three institutes Social Science Information Centre (IZ), Central Archive
for Empirical Social Research (ZA) at the University of Cologne and
Centre for Survey Research and Methodology (ZUMA), it has merged in one
institute with one management.
The former institutes have changed into the three departments GESIS-IZ, GESIS-ZA und
GESIS-ZUMA. The reorganisation hasn't been finished yet. By the
appointment of new programme directors a new structure is about to be
subsequently implemented. The president and the programme directors of
GESIS will be appointed in co-operation with universities.
Additionally, GESIS has also maintained a branch
in Berlin in order to transfer social science data and information
between Eastern and Western Europe, to further the East - West research
co-operation and to support the comparative research.
