Newsletter - Social Science in Eastern Europe 2000-1

EDITORIAL

Dear Reader,

From now on - as announced in the Newsletter of December 1999 - you will be receiving the English edition of the Newsletter only. Due to these "rationalization measures" we are able to use the released resources and funds for the further improvement of the contents. For example we are planning to publish subject-oriented editions of the Newsletter, each of them focusing on current social science issues. The heading "Internet" in the present issue in which sources on the Russian elections have been listed, already shows you the first attempt in this direction. Alongside with cross national information per topic, current information remains an integral part of the Newsletter.

Apropos "current", here once again our reminder: the information on conferences printed in the Newsletter is only a part of the conference calendar of the GESIS Branch Office in the Internet. It is updated every two weeks and it also contains the East Europe-oriented events in Germany. If you are constantly interested in new information on conferences, you should add the URL to your bookmarks.

And there is another recommendation we would like to point out: have you ever thought about the advantage of an electronic subscription to the Newsletter? It suffices to send an e-mail to oenews@berlin.iz-soz.de. Please write in the text body the following command: subscribe.

In any case we will be pleased to see that you continue to subscribe the Newsletter, no matter in which version.

Yours editorial board
