Newsletter - Social Science in Eastern Europe 2000-3

EDITORIAL

The July edition of this Newsletter, carrying articles on the situation of social science research on Eastern European topics in a number of North, East and South European countries has been presented at the Sixth World Congress of the International Council for Central and East European Studies (ICCEES) in Tampere, Finland, this summer. It was very well received by the participants and the 250 copies we had sent ahead were distributed easily to a very interested audience. Quite a large number of researchers from outside of Germany viewed the Newsletter for the first time and decided for a future e-mail subscription of it. Increasingly, we achieve our aim to reach those professionals engaged in Eastern European topics also on the international level. By the way, in June 2000 we celebrated exceeding one thousand subscribers of the Newsletter.

In the meantime several e-mails reached us, some with friendly comments, others with information that was felt missing in the articles. One of our future issues will publish this supplementary information and we invite all those who would like to contribute further to this topic to get in touch with us, especially when you can offer articles on Western European countries that have not been dealt with so far.
