Historical development: The Baltic Institute of Social Sciences, Ltd.
(BISS) is a private, independent, and non-profit research organization
established in January 13, 2000 on the base of the former Department of Academic
Research of Baltic Data House, Market and Social Research Centre (founded in
1991).
Main fields:
* Public policy analysis, analysis of reforms performed by government,
development of recommendations and alternative policies;
* Social policy analysis, development of recommendations and alternative
policies;
* Investigation of vital social political issues and recommendations in the
context of legislation (Citizenship Law, Language Law, Law of Education).
* Monitoring of information campaigns
* Comparative sociological studies
Co-operations: BISS participates in several international projects:
International Social Survey Programme (ISSP), World Values Survey (WVS),
European Values Survey (EVS), where more than twenty states take part and
conduct surveys with identical methodology regularly. BISS participates also in
Baltic and East European post-communist states project "New Baltic
Barometer" (NBB) and Baltic and Nordic countries project
"Nordic-Baltic Barometer".
Services: BISS provides professional, reliable and complex approach
for studies:
* development of methodology, gathering information, analysis of data,
preparation of reports and development of recommendations
* consultations based on complex analysis of context (case studies).
