Computer facilities

The users of the ZA EUROLAB will have access to a personal computer during their research stay. Further information on what is provided is given below: 

Software

• The operation system used at ZA EUROLAB is MS Windows XP.

• All PCs are equipped with customary office, internet, and mail applications (for information about e-mail address, see e-mail address), and standard tools.

• On each computer a collection of statistical analysis software is installed, e.g. SPSS.

• Besides the software already installed on the computers, additional software can be made available. However, it is advisable to inform us in advance of your stay, so we can check whether it is possible to put the software at your disposal.

• The ZA EUROLAB staff will give visitors basic introduction in using the computers and the software. Please note that while statistical advice might be possible for specific research questions, no training in statistical software will be given outside the GESIS-ZA spring and autumn seminars. 

Databases

• Several databases are accessible from the computers to search relevant questions in surveys such as the ISSP, Eurobarometers etc.

Data

• Most of the survey data and documentation held by GESIS-ZA is accessible directly from ZA EUROLAB computers. However, due to national data access regulations there are some exceptions.
