Bildung und nicht-kognitive Fähigkeiten (BINI)

Abstract

Cultural education is the activity of fostering the participation in culture. Cultural education is a promising candidate for increasing so called non-cognitive skills. Non-cognitive skills denote strengths of character and personality traits such as intellectual curiosity, open-mindedness, and cooperativeness. The extent to which cultural education indeed influences the development of non-cognitive skills has barely been systematically investigated yet.

The BINI project reviews the current state of research regarding cultural education and non-cognitive abilities and identifies significant gaps in the literature. Furthermore, the project looks into possibilities for reanalysis of existing data and possibly carries them out. Finally, the results will be summarized and open questions will be pointed out.
