Project description:
The International Social Survey Programme (ISSP) annually performs empirical surveys in over 30 countries on a joint
topic. The individual studies are brought together and stored by the Central Archives for Empirical Research (ZA) in Cologne. ISSP
DataWizard, a tool made available in cooperation with ZA, supports working procedures which were previously performed manually. Through rule based checks, automation of partial steps and the visualization of certain conditions the work becomes more
efficient, easier and less susceptible to mistakes. Via XML and the DTD of the Data Documentation Initiative
(DDI) an open and standardized exchange format between the partners and to other projects is
provided. The Java/Swing application can be used on all Java enabled
platforms.
The software is in test run since April 2004.
