Innovation and Economic Growth

The project studies both empirically and quantitatively the link between innovation and scientific development on the basis of long time series from 1870 to the present day. In this case, indicators for innovation are assessed that are to render the scale, intensity and structural integration of innovation processes evident and measurable. In view of the multivalent implications of the innovation concept, state expenditure on research and science, human capital formation, inventiveness and private business research and development expenditure are the key focus. Innovation research studies form a theoretical reference point that attempt to deduce theoretical assumptions and empirically substantiated statements on the progression, structure, dynamics and mutual conditionality of innovation and economic development.
