Knowledge Technologies in the Social Sciences

A further focus of the Research and Development activities of GESIS is the information science and information technology product design, product integration throughout the full range of GESIS products and services (social science portal sowiport) and its connection with the science portal vascoda.

The following tasks are therefore in focus as part of the GESIS research-based service:

supporting the preparation of information and knowledge,
supporting knowledge transfer,
supporting the scientific community by Web2.0 techniques,
product- and service-oriented research.

Current project topics are information systems and digital libraries (sowiport, infoconnex, IConnectEU, SDCbase89, IREON, CEWS Transfer), electronic publishing and open access (SSOAR), database based clearingshouses (DBClear), documentation and processing of social science data (ISSP Datawizard, QDDS, MISSY), the integration of Social Science data with textual information on literatur, projects and research institutions (text-fact-integration: sowiport) as well as the ergonomic engineering of portals (vascoda project "exemplary portal").
