How to access the EUROLAB - Access within the 6th Framework Programme
Who can apply
Individual researchers and research groups from Europe affiliated to institutions in the EU member states or FP6 Associated States/Candidate Countries (Bulgaria, Croatia, Iceland, Israel, Liechtenstein, Norway, Romania, Switzerland and Turkey) can apply for support. Researchers located in Germany can receive support under certain conditions. Only users that are entitled to disseminate the knowledge they have generated under the project are eligible to benefit from access to the infrastructure.
Access is given in the following areas: data access, training in data management and archiving and training in advanced methods of empirical social research. Most of the access days are reserved for international research groups were the participants come from different European countries working on specific topics within comparative social research and need access to the data holdings of the GESIS Data Archive. In addition, individual researchers can apply for support. A research visit will ideally last for about 20 days, the maximum is three months.
Furthermore, a limited number of access days will be available for the GESIS-seminars in advanced methods for social research in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. Only participants will be considered for support who apply the topic(s) of the seminar in their research work. It is expected that successful applicants participate in all three weeks of the seminar or combine the participation at the seminar with 1-2 weeks research visit at the EUROLAB. Please note that an application for support does not include the registration for the Spring Seminar - this has to be done separately. The programme for 2010 will be available at the spring seminar pages in short time.
How to apply
An application form is available here.
Deadlines for application are three times a year, April 15, August 15 and December 15. The 1st call being April 15, 2006 and the last being December 15, 2009. An international selection panel will evaluate the applications on a competitive basis. The selection panel will base its selection on scientific merit, taking into account that priority should be given to users who have not previously used the infrastructure and who are working in countries where no such research infrastructure exist. The three social science Research Infrastructures EUROLAB, ECASS and IRISS C/I exchange information on applications to ensure applicants apply at the infrastructure most suitable for their research work.
Applicants will be informed about the evaluation outcome normally within one month after the deadline.
