Survey Methodology

The goal of methodological survey research is to raise the standards of surveys at all phases of the survey life cycle through fundamentals as well as through applied research. This research aims to design all components of a survey so as to optimize the validity of the results obtained.

Research on surveys is indispensible for raising the quality standards of basic science research. The range of research activities stretches from sampling, and the development of survey instruments, to conducting surveys all the way through to data evaluation. Due to the increasing importance of comparative studies, this aspect is given specific consideration in all phases. GESIS possesses special expertise in the areas of both domestic and international comparative sampling, web-supported data collection, translation and adaptation as well as preparing standardized survey instruments.
