The charges are subject to change without prior notice when circumstances change. The amount of charges is based on two principles:

1. Handling charges principles

• The calculation of handling charges for the various products or services is based on the respective individual work involved and possible licence fees. That means for example, that the fees for the individual provision of files via FTP can be relatively lower than their compilation on CD-ROM.
• To calculate the handling charges, the user status according to the department's usage regulations are taken into account.
• Individuals and institutes, who made survey material available to GESIS, can access this material free of charge at any time.
• Data depositors can access other archived material to about the same extent as their own contribution, as far as the regulations for use do not oppose to this.
• Advisory and information services are free of charge, unless they exceed a certain level or are part of other, more extensive services.

2. Priority of supply

• The structure of charges should always be adequate in a way that the supply with material and services for the social sciences is guaranteed at any time.
