The Luxembourg Income Study (LIS)

GESIS participates in financing the LIS, and this permits German researchers to have access to LIS data. The LIS databank has a data infrastructure suited for the secondary analysis of household income patterns using international data.

For each individual household, data is available that encompasses

  • income from wages
  • income from wealth
  • taxes
  • public transfer payments and
  • pension income

as well as 34 other socio-demographic characteristics of the household. At present, data are available for 25 countries on four continents.

The LIS portal is: www.lisproject.org
