German General Social Survey (ALLBUS):
The German General Social Survey (Allgemeine Bevölkerungsumfrage der Sozialwissenschaften -
ALLBUS) is a biennial survey (from 1980 on) on attitudes, behaviour and social structure in the Federal
Republic of Germany. By face-to-face interviews, every single cross-section
wave of the survey investigates a representative sample of the population of the Federal Republic of Germany. The
questionnaire used is partly static and partly variable.
The ALLBUS data are available to researchers, scholars and institutions as soon as data editing
and documentation are completed. They are widely used in social research and
teaching .
