ISSP Non-Response Group

Detailed records of response and non-response are essential components of documentation needed to assess survey quality. The ISSP non-response group was set up to work out internationally viable descriptions and categories for outcome codes for cross-national research. Members of the group are US (chair), Bulgaria,  Hungary, Israel, Japan, Switzerland, and Taiwan. The AAPOR definitions were taken as a starting point for the ISSP codes. Cross-nationally valid codes are, however, necessarily somewhat more complex than codes and descriptions developed for a national context. For details of the project and its current status contact Tom W. Smith.
