The German System of Social Indicators: Key Indicators 1950 - 2005

Introduction

When selecting the set of key indicators presented here our focus was on core trends of welfare development and socio-structural change. This choice of 89 indicators taken from the 14 life domains of the indicator system outlines a condensed and clear picture of social developments in the Federal Republic of Germany. The time series data for the indicators selected were newly edited and supplemented by additional graphs and we will give preference to the key indicators during future updates of the data. In addition to a single pdf-document including all time series it is possible to access graphs and data tables for each life domain as well as for each of the indicators separately in single files using the links in the table below.

Information on Downloading Tables and Documentation

The following files are available for download:

  • All 89 indicators included in a single pdf-file (1656 KB, 210 pages).
  • Single files for each of the 14 life domains including data tables, graphs, definitions and abridged information on data sources for all indicators selected from this life domain (file sizes will be between 70 and 200 KB, including a number of pages between 9 and 24 pages).
  • Files for every single indicator (two or four pages with data table, graph and abridged information each; file sizes between 20 and 45 KB).
Facultatively you could also download tabular data for the complete time series of the German System of Social Indicators, including those indicators that are not covered by this selection as well as all disaggregations. The same database is also included in our Digital Information System Social Indicators (DISI 2.1). However, the tables on this page comprise the most recent database for the 89 key indicators selected.
