As a provider of social science research information and data GESIS aims to deliver its information collections via new technical standards and interfaces. According to the movement of Linked Open Data the GESIS department "Information Processes in the Social Sciences" (IPS) developes and provides services to offer social science data to the web of data for accessing, sharing and re-using.

The first step in this direction is the conversion of the Thesaurus for the Social Sciences (TheSoz) to the SKOS format and its availability as a RDF/XML dump and via a SPARQL endpoint. More developments are planned for the future.
