‘The International Social Survey Programme’ is an ongoing data collection programme facilitating research into important societal topics at an international level.

The first partial release of the 2009 survey contains topics on Attitudes towards Income Inequalities, Career Advancement, Social Advancement, Views on Income, Better Opportunities, Social Cleavages and Conflicts among Groups. It covers data of 33 countries/ regions across the world, on 46.000 respondents. A large part of the questionnaire is a replication of questions already posed in the earlier waves of 1987, 1992 and 1999. This makes the ISSP surveys on Social Inequality a unique source for comparisons across time, and across nations and cultures.

The integrated dataset is provided in the GESIS Online Study Catalogue ZACAT for exploration and free download. Additionally, the study description, detailed country specific study descriptions, original questionnaires and background variables documentations of each country are available.

The ISSP web pages at GESIS provide access to comprehensive documentation of the survey.
