Best Practice is transparency: Study Monitoring and Method reports of the ISSP

The ISSP is one of the few cross-national studies to conduct and publish study monitoring reports of the annual studies and method reports (for the German implementations of ISSP studies).

Study Monitoring Reports for the ISSP

Starting with ISSP 1995, the ISSP has published methodological reports on ISSP surveys called Study Monitoring Reports. Study Monitoring Reports provide details of each member’s fielding and outcomes and thus bring together information of relevance for analysis not otherwise available in such compact form.

Study Monitoring Reports are available for the following modules:

German ISSP Methods Reports

GESIS Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences has published short methods reports in English for most of the German implementations of ISSP studies. They provide details of the German fielding, an outline of the questions in each module and, for replication studies, a chart of replicated questions.
A few are only available in German; mostly published as part of the report on the German General Social Survey (ALLBUS).
