The workshop will guide participants through the preparatory steps for launching a GEAM questionnaire. Participants will be encouraged to work with real-world examples, i.e., customise their copy of the questionnaire to their institutional context. The adapted questionnaire can be launched after the workshop to generate real data – or not. In the latter case, participants will be able to export their GEAM questionnaire which can be easily used and launched at a later point in time by importing it to any compatible LimeSurvey platform.

Duration: The workshop is structured in three sessions over three days. Overall duration: 7 hours. 11, 14 and 21 of May

Session I – Day 1 – Introduction to the GEAM & Key Concepts. Duration: 2h 15 (lecture style, Q&A). The first session will introduce the overall GEAM framework, its purpose, components, and application scenarios.

Session II – Day 2 – Hands-on technical practice: setting up and customizing GEAM instance (with participants having personal access). Duration 4 hours (practice-based training). The second session will provide hands-on training for setting up and customizing a GEAM questionnaire.

Session III – Day 3 – Infrastructure for GEAM reporting. Duration: 1h45 minutes (lecture style, Q&A). The third session will introduce the components for reporting GEAM results; it also offers further opportunities to request feedback and address practical questions regarding customization of the GEAM questionnaire.

Target Groups:

The GEAM tool is a questionnaire to generate data on gender equality in the higher education sector, including universities, technical schools and research performing organizations across Europe. As such, the workshop addresses especially those individuals working on gender equality within these organizations:

  • Gender Equality officers
  • Human resources officers
  • Science managers
  • Researchers and academics forming part of equality committees and working groups

This workshop is specifically geared towards individuals with little experience in the social sciences, with no previous knowledge regarding the design and implementation of online surveys. The GEAM is a framework to generate and report high quality data on gender equality without in-depth previous knowledge to design and implement surveys.
