This year we are celebrating our 25th anniversary, and as part of our anniversary activities we are giving ourselves a new name: Center für Geschlechterverhältnisse in der Wissenschaft. Internationally, we will use the name Center for Gender Relations in Academia in the future. The well-established abbreviation CEWS will remain unchanged.
“After 25 years, CEWS is presenting itself in a new guise. We want to take developments in gender studies and equality policy into account. Gender inequalities still exist, and at the same time, our field of work has expanded. We want to make this visible with the name change,” says Lena Weber (team leader).
With the new name, we are emphasizing that we want to make science and research non-discriminatory, gender-sensitive, and respectful—today just as much as 25 years ago.
Note to our partners:
We kindly ask you to update the full name – Center für Geschlechterverhältnisse in der Wissenschaft / Center for Gender Relations in Academia – on external websites and materials accordingly.
We have a new name!
