Project description:
The Center of Excellence Women and Science will be evaluating selected equality measures of the Technical Faculty of the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU) starting in April 2020.
The main subject of the evaluation is the ARIADNE mentoring program with its different program lines. Furthermore selected measures for the promotion of young female scientists at the FAU's Faculty of Technology will be in the focus of the Evaluation.
As far as the mentoring program is concerned, the evaluation pays particular attention to the satisfaction of the mentees and mentors with the program as a whole as well as to their perception of it. Another focus will be the added value of the program for the mentees, especially regarding their continuance in the academic field. The function of the mentors as multipliers is also of great interest in the course of the evaluation.
The Theory of Change (TOC) impact model is used to analyse the various mentoring programme lines. The model serves to identify gaps and further development potential of mentoring. With the help of the TOC model, starting points for the development of indicators are identified. Moreover it can illustrate the intended programme logic and basic assumptions on the effect of the mentoring programme.
The other selected gender equality measures will be evaluated regarding the aspects of visibility, perception and evaluation by questioning the academic staff of the Faculty of Technology.
The results of the evaluation make an important contribution to the further development of gender equality measures at the FAU's Faculty of Technology. To this end, the CEWS links external and self-evaluation and develops specific recommendations for action for the FAU's Faculty of Technology.
The evaluation includes a self-report of the university, explorative on-site discussions in the form of group interviews, a quantitative online survey and an analysis of relevant documents.
The results of the evaluation will be presented in an evaluation report and in a final workshop.
Materials / Activities:
Three final events were held on April 7 and 8, 2022. On the one hand, the evaluation results were presented in two meetings for the faculty management as well as the university public. On the other hand, the evaluation team discussed the further development of the equality measures on the basis of the evaluation results with central and decentralized equality officers.
