Evaluation FEMtech

Evaluation of FEMtech – a program of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT) for promoting women in research and technology and for creating equal opportunity in industrial and non-university research at technical universities and in research and technology programs.

Project duration: 01.08.2010 - 31.01.2011

Research team: Dr. Andrea Löther, Dr. Nina Steinweg

The objective of the program evaluation was to carry out a critical appraisal of the work of the program thus far:

  • analyses of performance and product portfolios
  • direct survey of target groups and
  • placement in the international landscape of the promotion of equal opportunity for women in research and technology.

The evaluation was a systemic look at the FEMtech program and ascertained its total effect. The focus was on the effects and consequences of the program, specifically at the structural level. The influence of the areas of activity on the perceived significance among target groups, actual changes and results as well as total progress in efforts towards equal opportunity in research and technology across three effect levels have all been analyzed:

  • women in research and technology
  • industry and non-university research institutions
  • FTI-Policy.
