GenPORT

An Internet Portal for Sharing Knowledge and Inspiring Collaborative Action on Gender and Science

Project duration: 15.05.2013 - 15.04.2017

Project team: Dr. Anke Lipinsky, Dr. Nina Steinweg, Laura Getz, Laura Lorenz, Gesine Ahlzweig, Sara Grunenberg

GenPORT will initiate an online community of practitioners served by an internet portal, for organisations and individuals working in the field of gender equality in science, technology and innovation across the globe.

The purpose of the community and the portal is to organise and make available the variety of research resource, practical materials and policy information that exists in this field. We aim to generate feedback and debate on these resources, to facilitate the exchange of experiences and to foster collaboration, thus supporting continuing policy and practical interventions in pursuit of gender equality. Our aim is to support a vibrant online community shaped by the activities and contributions of its members.

The gender and science community that we will support through the portal consists of diverse existing groups in Europe, in the United States and Canada, in Australia, and increasingly South America and Asia.

The project is funded for the period May 2013 to April 2017 through the European Union FP7 'Science in Society' Programme under the theme 'Creating a transnational community of practitioners (Internet Portal)'.
