How secure is my personal data?

Users of the /femconsult website can only see the data released by CEWS. Only employees of GESIS/CEWS can access all registered data.

Is there any cooperation with Femconsult.org?

Femconsult.org offers a database for gender experts in development aid and cooperation. There is no connection between femconsult.de and Femconsult.org.

What is the purpose of the research in /femconsult?

The database is intended exclusively to provide information to women researchers and non-binary researchers about specific job vacancies and enquiries regarding specific  activities:

  • university professorships
  • university of applied sciences professorships
  • junior professorships
  • interim professorships
  • bodies, commissions, committees
  • expert opinions
  • EU activities
  • consulting
  • lectures
  • mentoring activities

Where and how can I send and publish job advertisements?

/femconsult is not a job board. Job advertisements cannot be published via /femconsult. Job advertisements in the context of gender equality and gender studies are included in our CEWS job market (only in German) regardless of qualification status. To submit an advertisement, please send an email to cews-info(at)gesis(dot)org.

/femconsult is intended to address job advertisements and inquiries specifically to suitable/qualified individuals. Using the search function (in German), you can search the database for people who meet the required qualifications. Once you have found a suitable candidate, upload your job advertisement to our system and send it directly to the registered person with a personal message. When contacting the person, please use the preferred pronouns of the woman researcher or non-binary researcher indicated in their scientific profile, if available. A gender-neutral form of address, such as “Hello (first name last name),” can be used for persons who have not specified their pronouns.

I didn't get any conformation for my search!

The confirmation of the search will be sent to the e-mail address given in the contact form. If an incorrect entry has been made, the confirmation of the search cannot be delivered. Please let us know if the confirmation should be sent again.

Why can't I upload my file?

Files can be only uploaded as a Word or PDF document into a contact form. Other formats cannot be uploaded.

Who is allowed to register at /femconsult?

Women researchers with a doctorate or habilitation, non-binary researchers with a doctorate or habilitation, and doctoral candidates who are about to submit their dissertation can register with /femconsult. An exception is made for artistic and creative fields. In these fields, a PhD is not always a mandatory requirement for an academic career, so registration is also possible without a PhD.

The target group includes cis and trans women as well as non-binary persons. To counteract the marginalization and discrimination of non-binary persons, CEWS has decided to expand the target group of /femconsult in 2025. Not only women, but also marginalized groups such as non-binary persons can be discriminated against in academia. The “Gender Report 2022” shows that TIN* individuals in mid-level academic positions, for example, are more likely to experience sexual harassment (12 %) than women (9 %) and men (1.5 %) (Studien Netzwerk Frauen- und Geschlechterforschung, 2022, p. 354). The expansion of the target group is based on a proposal by an internal working group and professional exchanges with representatives of the bukof commission “Queer Higher Education Policy.” If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions regarding the expansion of the target group for /femconsult, please feel free to contact us at any time at the following email address: femconsult(at)gesis(dot)org.

We particularly encourage women researchers and non-binary researchers who are affected by multidimensional discrimination (keyword: intersectionality) to register with /femconsult. Studies show that women (unfortunately, there is currently little data available for non-binary persons) with additional dimensions of discrimination, such as a migration or refugee background or a non-academic educational background, are more affected by discrimination in academia and work even less frequently in academia. According to the “Gender Report 2022”, 54 % of all women surveyed with a migration background and 48 % of all women surveyed with a non-academic educational background experience discrimination, compared to only 28 % of men surveyed with a migration background and 25 % of men surveyed with a non-academic educational background (Gender Report, p. 346).
