How can smartphones be used effectively for social science studies? In the workshop “Design and Methods for Mobile Data Collection” with Dr. Lukas Otto from 9 to 11 July 2025, participants will learn how mobile survey designs, such as experience sampling or diary studies, can be implemented in practice.
In addition to methodological basics, the course will focus on the practical planning, implementation and initial evaluation of mobile longitudinal studies. The focus is also on the GESIS AppKit, with which intensive longitudinal surveys can be realized via smartphone - in the future also in combination with sensor and tracking data.
The course is aimed at everyone who would like to use mobile designs in the social sciences. Basic knowledge of R and knowledge of social science methods, especially basic statistical methods, are required.
