The GLES is well prepared for the early federal election in 2025. The first parts of the study (GLES Panel, GLES Nomination Study) are already in the field, others are in the final stages of preparation for the field start in January (GLES RCS), shortly before the election (GLES Tracking) or shortly after the election (GLES Cross-Section, GLES Candidate Study).
The GLES design for the 2025 federal election, which is expected to take place on February 23, 2025, features some important innovations compared to the GLES design for the last federal election in 2021. The political attitudes of voters and the behavior of candidates remain the focus. The GLES data allow for the analysis of both short-term dynamics during federal election campaigns and long-term social change between individual elections. Furthermore, the GLES data are linked to international election studies (CSES and CCS), which enables cross-national comparisons.
