We are happy to present the first data release in the context of our Bundestagswahl 2025 social media data collection
In close collaboration with the University of Oldenburg and the GESIS German Longitudinal Election Study (GLES), the GESIS Web Data service has collected the Social Media accounts of the German Federal Election candidates of 2025. In that effort, we manually collected the URLs and IDs of the candidates’ public social media accounts on platforms X (Twitter), TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and Bluesky, as well as URLs of personal websites. The collection and verification of accounts and personal websites of candidates ran from January to August 2025. The entries of candidates included in the GLES also feature their unique GLES IDs, allowing for linking the candidate-level social media data to the survey data.
