Prof. Dr. Alexia Katsanidou takes over her position as Scientific Director at GESIS and professor at University of Cologne

On June 1, 2018, Prof. Dr. Alexia Katsanidou takes over her position as Scientific Director at GESIS and professor at University of Cologne.

Alexia Katsanidou is a comparative political scientist. She currently works as a PI on projects regarding the impact of the crisis in political representation and political behaviour (Project: Solikris) together with WZB and University of Heidelberg, and public opinion turning points on the environment and climate change (DominoES) together with PIK. She has an M.A. in Comparative Democratization (2003) and a Ph.D. in Politics (2008) from the Government Department at Essex University, UK. She studied International Politics and Economics at the University of Macedonia, Greece. In the period 2010-2015 she has lead the Team International Data Infrastructures at the GESIS Data Archive for the Social Sciences. 

Alexia Katsanidou has served in the Board of Directors of CESSDA (Consortium of European Social Science Data Archives) and in Secretary of the Board of IFDO (International Federation of Data Organisations). She is also a member of the scientific advisory board of Verbund Forschungsdaten Bildung (Network for Education Research Data), the Czech and the Austrian Social Science Data Archive, and the Standing Group on Political Methodology of the European Council of Political Research (ECPR). She also advices research projects on data collection, data management and content related scientific issues on political engagement and representation.
