Andrea Löther: Qualitätssicherung in der Gleichstellungspolitik. Konzeptionelle.

Gender monitoring and the quality management of gender equality activities is one of four mandatory components of the gender equality concepts in the Women Professors Program (Professorinnenprogramm). What is the meaning of quality and quality assurance? Is it just about the proportion of women when it comes to gender equality parameters? In her article for the anthology “Gleichstellung im Wandel”, Andrea Löther reflects on practical concepts of quality and quality assurance for gender equality policy and individual gender equality measures in academia. She explains that quality cannot be defined without referencing gender equality concepts and policy strategies. Furthermore, she examines individual tools and instruments of quality assurance.

The volume “Equality in Transition”, edited by Astrid Franzke and Katrin Springsgut, examines how changes in university structures towards gender equality and a diversity-sensitive academic culture can be achieved against the backdrop of new challenges of excellence, gender equality, and diversity of career paths to increase the attractiveness of the academic system for female academics and enable their career advancement. It combines perspectives from empirical research as well as from practitioners in the field of intersectional gender equality work, career and junior staff development and personnel development at universities and thus inspires current discourses.
